Celebrating Biosecurity Excellence!

We are thrilled to announce that Kauri Park Nurseries, with locations in North Auckland and Palmerston North, has received outstanding recognition for our commitment to biosecurity! Earlier this year, we became Plant Pass certified, and our recent audit from Asure Quality has left us beaming with pride.

Senior Auditor feedback from Asure Quality was incredibly positive:
“It was one of my best times auditing for a long time. Terry Wearmouth and his staff's dedication to create what they’ve achieved so far is mind-blowing! Being a family business, it’s such an inspiration to see the young generation taking over the operation at the nursery and the restoration project they do."

The auditor went on to commend our very own Oscar Wearmouth, Operations Manager:
“I was so impressed with young Oscar, Vern Wearmouth’s son. His knowledge and enthusiasm while explaining the whole operation, the day-to-day tasks, the software they use for traceability, make you believe in the importance of Plant Pass and the power of plants.”

This recognition highlights not only our unwavering dedication to biosecurity but also our commitment to environmental sustainability and nurturing the future leaders in ecological restoration.

What is Plant Pass?

Plant Pass is a systematic approach to biosecurity risk management in nurseries.

It is a voluntary certification scheme that enables plant producers to protect their plants, their customers and our environment, economy and way of life from pest and pathogen threats.

Plant Pass is all about healthy plants for Aotearoa New Zealand.

Benefits of Plant Pass include:

  • Improved biosecurity practices and risk management in plant nurseries.

  • Reduced likelihood of a pest or disease establishing in a nursery and being spread by the domestic plant trade.

  • Protecting plant buyers in New Zealand’s domestic and export fruit and vegetable sectors, vineyard, forestry, greenlife (amenity and garden), urban and afforestation markets.

  • Improved traceability and recall for plants, facilitating rapid tracing in a biosecurity response.

  • Harnessing the critical skills and observations that exist in the plant production industry to strengthen biosecurity and the biosecurity team of five million New Zealanders.

Thank you to Asure Quality for commending Kauri Park Nurseries for our commitment to world-class biosecurity practices and risk management. And thank you to our incredible team and supporters who make achievements like this possible.
