Carex solandri

Forest sedge, Solander’s sedge

Carex solandri is a sedge found in forests and damp ground in most areas of New Zealand except Fiordland and Southland. The drooping yellowish green leaves are ribbed and up to 1cm wide. It grows to 60cm or more tall, and the flowering stems are as long as or longer than the leaves. Being a forest plant, it is best grown in a somewhat shady situation and is good for growing under trees. Prefers a moist soil but can tolerate some dryness.
