Carex virgata

Swamp sedge, Pukio, Toitoi, Toetoe

Carex virgata is a vigorous sedge of swampy areas throughout New Zealand. It has narrow arching bright green leaves and grows to about 90cm. It is a useful species for waterside planting and very damp soils but will also grow on dry sites and in sun or semi shade. Ideal for wetland, storm water , and riparian plantings.
