Coprosma repens
Taupata, Mirror plant
Coprosma repens, commonly known as the mirror plant, is one of the toughest coprosmas. It is found in coastal areas from North Cape, to as far south as Greymouth. Stunted specimens can be found growing out of rocky crevices, but in normal conditions a height of 4-6m can be attained.
The oblong leaves are thick, dark green and very glossy, giving rise to the common name of mirror plant. Taupata is excellent for coastal planting, being extremely tolerant of salt-laden winds and harsh conditions.
