Small-leaved pohuehue, scrub pohuehue, wire vine

Muehlenbeckia complexa is a sprawling coastal shrub that grows into a tangled mass of brown wiry stems with small round leaves. M.complexa is a vigorous and tough plant that is very good for covering banks and other awkward areas and for coastal situations. It can also be trained as a climber if given a structure such as chicken mesh, to climb on.
