Geniostoma rupestre, commonly known as hangehange, is found in coastal and lowland forest throughout the North Island and in Marlborough. It grows to 2-3m, with shiny pointed oval leaves and tiny greenish white flowers in spring. It is a common and rather anonymous shrub but it grows quickly and is unfussy as to conditions so makes a useful filler, screen or underplanting beneath tall trees.
