Drury is the new gateway to Auckland south. The mixed-use developments are designed to combine community and industry with the natural world.

The projects integrate homes with business hubs consisting of retail and commercial services. As part of the developments, the Drury Eco Islands were restored as an ecological offset project to enhance the biodiversity of the greater region.

Ecosystem – Auckland’s nature reserve

Water management is crucial to any ecosystem, and Kauri Park were tasked with restoring the ecosystems on three estuarine islands in the Manukau. The first challenge was to clear the overgrown shrubs and fell old pines, placing them in groups to be used as habitat for fauna. The 100,000 plus new plants had to be carefully selected for the harsh environment that had poor soil, and where the salt water and brackish king tide of the estuarine ecosystems meets riparian habitat. Kauri Park then maintained these plants for three years until they reached canopy and achieved an ecosystem thriving with insect and bird life and an urban sanctuary rich in biodiversity for everyone to enjoy.

Ecovitalism – Getting it right for future generations.

We believe that spaces like this can shape the future of how we work, live, and play by adapting to the pressures of a growing city. With forward planning, the correct frameworks in place, a group of passionate people, and the right plants, amazing spaces like this can benefit the community and natural environment. It’s in our DNA to go the extra mile to get this balance right, and welcome opportunities to work with those who share our vision.
